God Doesn T Give You Anything You Can T Handle
God doesn t give you anything you can t handle. God will never give you more than you can handle By Terry L. We arent called to the be smartest strongest coolest richest people in the world - we arent supposed to outwit outlast outplay others. He just shows you something to ensure that you grow up and get better each day.
And through the rivers they shall not overwhelm you. The concept that God will never give us more than we can handle seems to sound right initially. He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear.
And God is faithful. But if we give it further thought we find it is a notion that is in direct conflict with the Gospel. God loves His people so He wont give us more than we can handle.
This particular statement that God wont give you more than you can handle isnt even in the Bible. 13 No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. God is faithful and he will not let you be tested beyond your strength but with your testing he will also provide the way out so that you may be able to endure it 1 Corinthians 1013.
1 Corinthians 1013 says No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to humankind. Often we might say God wont give you more than you can handle to someone who is dealing with a lot of adversity. They usually have 1 Corinthians 1013 in mind.
The old saying God wont give you more than you can handle is complete nonsense. But when you are tempted he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. It says that He wont allow you to be tempted above what you are able but will provide an escape so you can endure it.
There hath no temptation taken hold of you but such as is common to man. But thats not the same as God not giving us more than we can handle.
Maybe one hardship piled on top of another.
Most of the time when people say God will not give you more than you can handle it comes from a passage from Paul in 1 Corinthians 10. It means to bear up under a thing placed on ones shoulders. But if we give it further thought we find it is a notion that is in direct conflict with the Gospel. God does say He wont allow us to be tempted beyond what we can bear and that He always provides a way out 1 Corinthians 1013. I usually remain quiet because I realize that the statement is well intended. Bowes April 26 2012 Paul tells us. No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. But when you are tempted he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. Too bad it isnt true.
But thats not the same as God not giving us more than we can handle. Too bad it isnt true. He shows you difficult times because its only the tough things that shape and mould you. Most of the time when people say God will not give you more than you can handle it comes from a passage from Paul in 1 Corinthians 10. Apparently God thinks Im a real bad-ass. And through the rivers they shall not overwhelm you. It is a slice of truth perhaps but not the full measure of Gods Word and is therefore a poor and even harmful substitution.
